Why Sensations for Generations Was Born

Hello, I’m Ellie — mama to little Belle and the heart behind Sensations for Generations.

This project didn’t just start as a business… it began as something deeply personal.

Where It All Began

Before motherhood, I worked in restorative justice and helped disadvantaged people into employment. Supporting others has always been at the centre of who I am. I knew from a young age that I wanted to help older generations, but life hadn’t quite led me there yet.

Then I had Belle.

Becoming a mum changed everything — not just my day-to-day life, but my purpose. I met so many mums who were struggling, feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure of themselves. I felt it too. And something clicked inside me:
I wanted to create a space where people felt held, supported, and connected… no matter their age.

My Great Nanny June

A big part of my “why” goes back to my Great Nanny June.
She had dementia, and I would take her little sensory items to help soothe and comfort her. I watched how something as simple as texture, warmth, or sound could reach her in ways words couldn’t. Those moments stayed with me.

My Grandad Mick

Near the end of my Grandad Mick’s life, I saw how important connection truly is — how much it matters to simply show up for someone. On one visit, I met a man named Colin who told me how much he valued a simple chat, especially when he went days without visitors.

That stuck with me.
Sometimes the smallest moments are the ones that matter the most.

The Lightbulb Moment

After Belle was born, the pieces suddenly fit together:
    •    My love for older generations
    •    My experience working with vulnerable people
    •    My new understanding of motherhood
    •    My belief that connection can heal loneliness
    •    My memories of Nanny June and Grandad Mick

And I realised…
I wanted to bring all generations together.

Babies, parents, older adults — all in one warm, joyful space where everyone benefits from each other.

That’s when Sensations for Generations was born.

This is more than a class.
It’s a community.

A place for joy, comfort, sensory play, and gentle moments of connection — between families, between generations, and within ourselves.

Every session I create is designed with love, care, and intention. I’m guided by my family, inspired by my daughter, and driven by the belief that:

Connection is not just important — it’s essential.
